Creative energy defines Sharon's everyday enjoyment of working with clients to create their ideal kitchen - open spaces for social gatherings, great countertop work areas, and carefully chosen lighting for both cooking and setting a mood.
Sharon has excelled for more than 15 years as a kitchen designer, earning not just business from her clients, but also their friendship. "My clients tell me that I have a great sense of humor, that I am intuitive, very knowledgeable, and protective of their interests. They trust me."
She delights in the details.
"The attention to detail and inventive design solutions set DeWitt Designer Kitchens apart," said Sharon. "Walk into our showroom and you will appreciate how carefully we have defined the space. The way it unfolds as you step through. The surprise at each corner. The deep love and appreciation for lighting."
Her keen eye for shape, design, color and texture - and a love for the culinary arts - stretches back generations in her family. "My appreciation for fine food and wine guides my designs. It is not enough to create a kitchen that looks great. You appreciate it the most when it also functions well."
Sharon, a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, fell in love with kitchen design before graduating from UCLA Extension's Interior and Environment Design program. "Kitchen design is the perfect blend of the technical and creative aspects of design."
Sharon is an avid gardener and lover of the outdoors. She extends her respect for nature by incorporating innovative green and sustainable design solutions to both her kitchens and baths. "We all need to be more conscious of our energy and resource consumption. I am always happy to help clients who want to bring this sensitivity into their homes.”
In 2006, Sharon made a guest appearance on HGTV's "Designer's Challenge" and her kitchen remodel plan was selected as the winning design.
What does Sharon value most about designing kitchens?
"The end result. The reaction people get when they walk in, the genuine joy on their faces when they see the transformation."
On one project Sharon got to share that special moment - but with a twist.
"I had some clients who owned a house overlooking the Hollywood sign. They had become accustomed to living with the extremely poorly-designed kitchen. It took a tremendous amount of time on my part to convince them to reconsider how they moved about in their kitchen. After much discussion, they finally relented because they trusted me.
"As the cabinetry was being installed, they asked that I only return when the kitchen was completed. It was difficult to stay away because it was starting to look so beautiful! When the kitchen was completed, they asked me back and led me into the kitchen with instructions to keep my eyes closed.
"When I opened my eyes, what I remember was not so much how beautiful their kitchen was but I remember my clients' expressions at the other end of the kitchen. They had their arms wrapped around each other with huge smiles on their faces while watching my reaction.
"My favorite part of the day was when they began to point out their favorite features of the kitchen, which turned out to be all the changes I had pleaded with them to consider.
Her signature style?
"I love creating a space that is comforting and inviting, a place for people to make memories that last a lifetime."
